THE SUCCESSFUL SOLIDARITY AUCTION FOR THE CHILDREN
Finally the much heralded auction of the ten works of art, created by reputed artists while the show “The Night of the Number Ten” was being staged, took place.
The auction was a real success. It took place on November 2 at the Malba (the Latin American Art Museum ) in Buenos Aires city, was conducted by Jorge Guinzburg and attended by more than 250 people.
Thus works created by artists like Pérez Célis or Páez Vilaró were auctioned off, and the corresponding proceeds were destined for the benefit of the poor children in Argentina , like Diego had announced in each one of his shows.
Three other auctions were staged:
A portable PC according to maradonian aesthetics; a chess board autographed by Diego and by the great Russian chessplayer Anatoly Karpov (the joint signature of these two men was one of the special moments of the 12 (so far) nights of Maradona's TV show ; and, finally, the ten framed photographs (signed by Diego as well, of course) which depict the career of the greatest of all times: from Argentinos Juniors to Boca, with his stopovers at the Napoli, his other teams and, obviously, his great love: the National Team. Up to 125 thousand pesos were paid for these images of Diego Maradona´s life.
All told, between the auctioned works of art and the additional auctions, the impressive and successful amount of 850 thousand pesos was collected.
Diego, in his chat with Mirtha Legrand during her Thursday 3 TV lunch , said how happy he was with the result of the auctions and thanked those present who had supported this initiative. The children give their thanks, as well.
